World Boxing Championship

September 4 - September 14

World Boxing Championship is a not-for-profit international federation formed to protect the future of boxing within the Olympic movement by placing the interests of boxers at its core. It emerged in response to ongoing governance and integrity concerns surrounding the previous international governing body for Olympic-style boxing. Established by leaders from numerous National Federations, World Boxing seeks to offer a credible, transparent alternative—founded on the values of integrity, honesty, and excellence. It ensures strong governance, athlete representation through voting rights for male and female boxers on its Executive Board, and fair competition on a global scale.

Launched publicly in April 2023, World Boxing has grown rapidly, with over 60 National Federations across all five continents joining by January 2025. Its first formal engagement with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) took place in May 2024, followed by the formation of an Olympic Commission in September 2024—chaired by Gennadiy Golovkin—to help pave the way for boxing’s return to the Olympic Games. The organization remains committed to five core pledges: keeping boxing at the heart of the Olympic movement, prioritizing boxers’ welfare, ensuring integrity in competition, designing athlete-focused competition structures, and upholding high standards of governance and financial transparency.
