The Bristol International Balloon Fiesta

The Bristol International Balloon Fiesta is a free, three-day celebration that honours Bristol’s rich heritage and deep-rooted connection to the incredible world of hot air ballooning. From Friday, August 8th to Sunday, August 10th, the scenic grounds of Ashton Court, just outside Bristol, transform into a vibrant hub of festivities—complete with live entertainment and a spectacular showcase of more than 100 hot air balloons ready to soar into the skies. This iconic event has been a cornerstone of the UK’s events calendar for over 40 years, with Bristol serving as the ideal host. As the birthplace of ballooning in Europe and now the global capital of the sport, the city’s legacy shines brightly. What began in 1979 as a modest idea among friends has grown into a cherished Bristol tradition—a symbol of local pride that captures international attention and celebrates the spirit of the region.
