Cheltenham Literature Festival

October 10 - October 19

At Cheltenham Literature Festival, we work together to create meaningful experiences that bring joy, spark curiosity, connect communities, and inspire positive change. At the heart of everything we do is the belief that culture should be open to all — our vision is a world where everyone has the opportunity to explore and create culture in ways that enrich their lives. Our focus is on producing inclusive festivals and projects that celebrate music, science, and the spoken and written word. Through these, we aim to ensure that people from all backgrounds can enjoy the benefits of cultural participation, while also providing pathways into careers in the arts and sciences.

Cheltenham Literature Festival is guided by our mission, vision, and core values, our work responds to key societal challenges. These include addressing the digital skills gap in cyber technology, tackling the climate crisis, promoting reading for pleasure among children, supporting mental health, increasing access to music education, and offering opportunities to low-income and marginalised communities in Cheltenham and beyond. As a not-for-profit charity, we rely on the support of sponsors, funders, and charitable donations to make our work possible. Our dedicated team — including full-time, part-time, and freelance staff — works throughout the year to deliver our programmes. We’re also supported by a vibrant network of volunteers, members, patrons, and partners who help us bring culture to life for everyone.
